Rowan Family Raises Murder Reward to $200,000
December 13, 2007

An unsolved murder is now spawning one of Duval County`s biggest rewards. John Rowan Jr. was last seen alive on February 23, 2001. The case initially was treated as a missing person. Now it`s taking the title of an unsolved murder. Peg Rowan, surrounded by family members and Sheriff John Rutherford, announced increasing the reward to $200,000.
"I do know in my heart and soul there`s people here in Jacksonville who know where my son is," Rowan said. "I do need to find him. So please, please come forward."
John Rowan Jr. was 34 years old when he disappeared. His truck was recovered a month later in Orlando near the airport. Police say the vehicle provided no help in the investigation.
The Rowan family is hoping by increasing the reward by another $100,000 that someone will come forward with information. Mother of the man presumed murdered says she wants what any mother would. "Help us find our son so we can bring him home to lay in rest," she said.

According to police, Hiep Nguyen had been strangled. Police also found that money was missing from the cash register, and someone had broken into the business safe.
